Find your PlaceType

Three questions. Pick the word or phrase that best reflects who you are most of the time — not who you'd like to be, and not who you are on a good day.

The three dimensions

Extraversion — whether you're energised more by the world outside yourself or by your own thoughts. Both are equally socially adept; this isn't shyness.

Conscientiousness — how engaged and focused you are versus how laid back.

Openness to experience — whether you lean daring or practical.

The PlaceType system — its eight types, three dimensions, letter chart and design guidance — is Dr. Sally Augustin's, from Designology: How to Find Your PlaceType & Align Your Life with Design (Mango Media). This is an unofficial reader's interface to that system, not a replacement for the book: everything here is condensed summary, and Designology carries far more per type than a summary page can — particularly on colour, scent, texture and soundscaping. If the framework is useful to you, the book is where it actually lives.
